Kevin McCall (born July 25, 1985), better known as K-Mac, is
an American singer, songwriter, producer, and rapper signed to
Universal Music Group and CBE (Chris Brown Entertainment). He wrote
on "Last Train to Paris", and is nominated for a Grammy,
with Chris Brown for Deuces, for the 2011 Grammy's.
Kevin Trevor McCall Jr. was born on July 25, 1985 in Watts, California.
He is the 2nd oldest out of 3 sisters and 1 brother. Kevin, affectionately
known to friends and family as “K-MAC”, was introduced
to music at a very young age by his family who noticed Kevin’s
desire, talent and interest for music early on. Like many artists,
Kevin’s love of music stemmed from his time singing in the
church choir. While developing musically, Kevin was also an exceptional
athlete and excelled in both track and field and football. Torn by
his undeniable musical talent, yet the need to want to continue the
tradition of all the McCall men before him, Kevin put his music aside,
and focused on completing High School and later attending Washington
State University where he received a full football scholarship.
Kevin was suspended from the team his sophomore year after charges
of rape were brought up. The charges were later reduced to assault
in the fourth degree with sexual motivation, McCall served 45 days
in jail with 2 years probation.[5] In 2007 Kevin graduated from Washington
State University with a degree in Social Science and a Minor in Music
and Ethnic Studies. McCall had originally been pursuing a business
degree but fell back on the social science major. It was there he
became a member of the Chi Alpha Alpha chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
Although Kevin taught himself piano, studying music in school allowed
him to completely develop his skills as a songwriter and producer
and artist.
Once back in Los Angeles, Kevin began networking and creating a
buzz with his music as he saturated the web via YouTube, MySpace
and Facebook. In his short time as a new songwriter and producer
in the industry Kevin, has been fortunate to collaborate with both
established and up and coming artist such as: Chris Brown, Keri Hilson,
Tank, Trey Songz, Pleasure P, Keyshia Cole, Kelly Rowland and Rich
Girl just to name a few. As a member of Omega Psi Phi, Kevin has
created a name for himself on the college circuit from performances
of his original songs and also songs he has written for his fraternity.
In 2009 Kevin jumped head first into the music industry by producing
10 tracks off Chris Brown’s first mixtape “In My Zone”.
The mixtape included hits such as Big Booty Judy (Remix) by Kevin
McCall feat Chris Brown and Ludacris, Twitter (Follow Me), Too Freaky
and Work Wit It just to name a few.
