Soul for Real is an R&B group from Wheatley Heights, New York
that released three albums in the 1990s, made up of brothers Andre
(born April 4, 1974), Brian (born December 14, 1975), Christopher
(born April 30, 1973), and Jason Dalyrimple (born May 10, 1980).
Formed in 1992, Soul for Real signed with Uptown Records and released
their debut album Candy Rain on March 28, 1995.[1][2] Produced by
Heavy D, Candy Rain's first single was the album's title track. The
song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and peaked
at #2 on the Hot 100 chart. Their second single, "Every Little
Thing I Do", reached #11 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and
#17 on the Hot 100 chart.[3]
Soul for Real's second album, For Life, was produced by Sean Combs
and released on September 24, 1996. The album peaked at #119 on the
Billboard 200, and the single album's single "Love You So" peaked
at #64 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in 1997.[3][4]
The group moved to the independent label Chrome Dome Records for
their third album, Heat, which was originally to be distributed by
Tommy Boy Music, but was later dropped from that deal, picked up
by Warlock Records and released on May 18, 1999. The album failed
to chart.[5] In 2007, Soul for Real formed their own label, Aljoba
Music Group (AMG), and began work on their fourth studio album entitled
The Unknown. The album included the single "One Man" featuring
Jadakiss.[6]
[edit] Legal troubles
On February 25, 2009, group member Brian Dalyrimple was arrested
in Charlotte, North Carolina on charges of identity theft. Prior
to his arrest, Dalyrimple allegedly took his 10-month-old son from
his grandmother's home and fled to a friend's home in Charlotte.
Police were given a tip which led to his arrest. Dalyrimple, along
with his son's mother, are accused of orchestrating financial thefts
from over 200 victims in the Duluth, Georgia area and other jurisdictions.[7]
