Hot Chelle Rae began in 2005, with a meeting between singer-songwriter Ryan (RK) and guitarist Nash. The band began unsigned with the name Miracle Drug. The band was later named Hot Chelle Rae, after a MySpace stalker who provided the band with a rather entertaining era of online activity until her false identity was discovered and brought to light.[2] Overstreet is the son of country music singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet and the brother of actor Chord Overstreet. The Follesés are the sons of country songwriter Keith Follesé and Keaggy is the son of Phil Keaggy.[3] In the summer of 2007, the band opened a sold out concert for rapper Lil Jon. Later on that year, they played a string of venues at the prestigious South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, and then went on tour with the band Vedera. They were signed to Jive Records in October 2008,
and then began work on their first album. Hot Chelle Rae released the single "Tonight
Tonight" which peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2011. Their next single, "I Like It Like That", premiered on September 13, 2011. The song features rap duo New Boyz. It was
released on iTunes on October 4, 2011. The video was released on
October 7, 2011; the same time the band was dropped from Jive Records
after their closing and their current signing with RCA Records.
The album cover and name were announced on the band's website on
October 4, 2011. It is to be released on November 29, 2011.
