Somaya Reece

Dale Miami

I have been pursuing the music business for a long time, playing the violin since I was 8/9 (still play). I have been an independent artist funding everything myself with 3 jobs, no sleep, no fancy stuff nothing but a hope and a dream. I have had many doors slammed in my face over and over. Yet. I never stopped believing in my dreams. I have the heart of a lion and am very ambitious. I refuse to sleep around to get ahead. I work hard for mine. I believe in “A closed mouth never gets fed” I am never afraid of reaching out. However, I do not ever ask for a handout. I worked very hard, went through years of financial and emotional struggle to get to where I am today. I grew up in a violent and alcoholic & psychically abusive household. This played a big part of me walking down the wrong road in gangs and adding to my first violent relationship that built my constant efforts in charity supporting abused/battered women & children’s shelters. When I was 14, after breaking up with my first boyfriend. He ambushed me and beat me to where I have lost 75% feeling on the right side of my face, many of my teeth, and fractured my skull due to blunt trauma to my temple. Until this day, I cannot feel the right side of my face.

I’m not here for a pitty party. I AM A FIGHTER! I share my story in order to help other women/men who suffer abuse in a relationship. My advice to you is to break free!

I am here to inspire and motivate people across the globe who share the same story of struggle. I salute YOU! I am just like you trying to make my dreams a reality. I never gave up, I did it all on my own. NO MANAGERS or AGENTS helped me, I DID IT. And now that my career is blowing up did I change? NO!! I am STILL THE SAME girl you always knew!! I have nothing to prove or to be “cool” about. I fall, I make mistakes, but I learn from them and never make the same mistake twice. I DO NOT like to be called a “rags to riches” or “new fame n fortune” story because it was never about the fame, you can keep that. I am just thankful to help my poor parents get out of the garage we lived in growing up in South Central. And truth be told. All I want to do is use my story to inspire the world. I enjoy working, have had many jobs in order to support my career and am not embarrassed to share that with you. It is life. I am YOU! We are all the same. God is now blessing us……

I dedicate my life to charities involving things I have been through in life, domestic violence, cancer, public speaking, women & children’s shelters for the abused, and I work with the school districts where I make public speeches about changing your life around for the better. Everyday is a day to make a change. It is never too late to change. Fans can call me for encouraging words free of charge 1(213)785-7668

I have never fronted about how much I’ve struggled to get to where I am or how I didn’t have money coming up. I’m not embarrassed to share my hard times because we all go through hard times. Except most artist’s front and pretend that everything is “easy” when it’s not! Truth is. It was much harder for me to “break” because I wouldn’t sleep around for career advancement and I had poor management. I have been put in many situations before I was prepared. See me, I didn’t do it like a lot of these industry chicks did. I did it all without doing any “extra” favors to get ahead. You gotta respect that!

The darkest times in my life is when I messed up in a major way in the hood livin “la vida loca” the “thug life” almost killed me many times. I almost bled to death way too many times, went through a lot of painful circumstances in gangs, that it finally wised me up to change for the better of my family and to inspire you!

Thank you,
Somaya Reece
