Malik Zulu Shabazz

 

Atty. Malik Zulu Shabazz has been one of the most consistent organizers and lecturers in the nation for Black Power and the Muslim movement for over a decade. Shabazz, the former radical and effective student activist as a Howard University Law Student began his revolutionary career in 1988 by founding the very successful Black Revolutionary student group Unity Nation. He came to national attention in early 1994 as a national defender of Black students rights for revolution, unrestricted free speech, and reparations. He was called &#x20one of the greatest student leaders of all time”, and by the Honorable Louis Farrakhan, “one of the next great leaders in Black America”.

Since 1988 Atty. Malik Zulu Shabazz, a practicing Attorney at law, who possesses his juris doctorate degree from Howard University Law School, has been a student, ally and adviser to the great freedom fighter, warrior, former Nation of Islam National Spokesman, Supreme Captain, and New Black Panther Party Chairman Minister Khallid Abdul Muhammad. When Dr. Muhammad was under attack in the early 1990’s it was Malik Zulu Shabazz who provided Khallid Muhammad with key support and a national platform. Atty. Shabazz, then National Chairman of Unity Nation, convened the infamous Black Holocaust conference of April 19, 1994 at Howard University and the “Million Man March Preview” Black Holocaust Conference of October 14-15 1995. Dr. Shabazz served as the National Director and Legal Counsel for the Million Youth March’s of 1998 and 1999 which were convened by Dr. Khallid Abdul Muhammad.


Dr. Khallid Abdul Muhammad, served as the National Chairman for the New Black Panther Party from 1998 until his transition February 17, 2001. Now Dr. Malik Zulu Shabazz, the former National Spokesman and Representative of the NBPP now serves as the National Chairman of the New Black Panther Party. The NBPP has thirty chapters nationwide and is fighting a frontline struggle for Afrikan Liberation. Education programs, mentoring, fighting racism, free-food programs, heavy political action , self defense training, black youth development, reparations and self-determination are all part of the New Black Panther Party mission, which is rooted in the Original Black Panther Party, Malcolm X, Elijah Muhammad- Nation of Islam, and the Marcus Garvey Movement. The NBPP has many great young leaders in the ranks.

Atty. Malik Zulu Shabazz also has been very politically active. In 1998 he picked up over 17,000 votes in a near miss bid for the D.C. city council.
He served as campaign spokesman for D.C. Mayor Marion Barry in 1992 and 1994. Shabazz is an influential figure in Washington D.C. politics

As a practicing attorney at law, Malik Zulu Shabazz handles discrimination cases, police brutality cases, criminal defense and other civil litigation that are intricately involved with the oppression Afrikan people face here in America. Voted 1998-1999 “Young Lawyer of the Year” by the National Bar Association (NBA) – The largest African-American Legal organization.


Atty. Shabazz has lectured on college campuses, graduate school and in venues all over America and the Caribbean.
He has appeared numerous times or been featured on National T.V. including Court TV, C-SPAN, Geraldo Rivera Live, B.E.T. Tonight, B.E.T. news, Rap City, &#x20The O’Rielly Factor(FOX),” the “Crier Report (FOX),” The Connie Chung Show, “Nightline,” “Ricki Lake,” “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” MSNBC as well as other major network, national and international newspapers.
