the Nuwaubians have taken auto-determinations to the next level by building a commpound in 1993, designed like in Kemet,
with about a hundred people living in it...

Following lenghty legal battles, the compound was sold by the american government then destroyed in June 2005.
Malachi York was arrested in May of 2002, charged with over 100 counts of child molestation and other charges, he was convicted in 2004 and sentenced to 135 years in prison.

One article on the official website alledges that York is innocent and that his own son is responsible for the molesting charges.

Probably one of the strongest religious influence was the Moorish Science Temple of America founded by Timothy Drew
According to some sources, Wallace Fard Muhammad (founder of the Nation de l'Islam & teacher of Elijah Muhammad),
was involved in this moevement, there is indeed some similarities in the teachings of the MSTA and the NOI.
